Tamikrest returns. Touching, trailing, psychedelic from the desert. To the rhythm of the camel, pass pair pass. Tortured texts longing for freedom and independence. Tamikrest = Rock ‘n Roll from the Sahara.

Malaysian Tamikrest has been around the globe with their rebellious desert blues. On a Sunday in December, the nomadic band's world tour leads to Subhuset in Holstebro, where the gray concrete halls will be filled with an indigo-colored soundscape of groovy bass lines, djembe rhythms and wah guitar.

It is a distinctive music that springs from Ishumar psychedelic rock, mixed with international musical trends and the cultures of neighboring countries.

The nomadic people from the desert are called Tuareg. In recent decades, the people have been on the run from civil war-like conditions. The stories of war, flight and cohesion are expressed in Tamikrest's music, especially the album Chatma. The songs are sung on Tamasheq, with the message of telling the whole world about the poetry that rests in the endless sand horizon of the Sahara.
